Taxicab drivers are independent contractors. The following items will be considered when evaluating a new enrollee/driver:

  • The age of the driver – we are looking for drivers who are at least 21 years of age
  • U.S. driving experience
  • The number of moving violations
  • The number of at fault accidents
  • The number of DWI convictions – any DWI convictions within 5 years will disqualify the driver, absent extenuating circumstances
  • Texas Driver's License with current address shown
  • Each independent contractor driver is responsible for obtaining a taxi driver's license from the City of Galveston

All Yellow Cab of Galveston taxis are operated by independent contractor drivers. Drivers may choose to lease or purchase Yellow Cab vehicles, which are air conditioned, specially equipped late model sedans and minivans.
